Favourite Places: Bar Chocolat, Clifton

Bar Chocolat-8 Bar ChocolatMore often than not, you’ll find me in a coffee shop and I pride myself on knowing some of Bristol’s best. So, I’m taking my camera outside for once {gasp!} and taking you along on the ultimate cake crawl. Ready?

Our first stop is Bar Chocolat in the heart of Clifton village. I lived in halls in Clifton in my first year of university and Bar Chocolat was an early discovery on a weekly walk with two of my closest flatmates. It became a favourite for revision breaks and catch-ups and emergency chocolate fixes {or all of the above}.Bar Chocolat-3 Bar Chocolat-4It’s a family run business, serving a wide range of cakes {not of all of which are chocolate-based if you’re not that way inclined!}, sandwiches and hot drinks. You can add one of about twenty different purées or syrups to your hot chocolate, including maple, chestnut and passionfruit {though I confess the plain dark chocolate one is probably my favourite}. They also have a handmade chocolate counter, and at the moment the shelves opposite are stocked full of Easter eggs and other treats.Bar Chocolat-6 Bar Chocolat-2Recommendations: Bailey’s hot chocolate, baked white chocolate cheesecake, dark hot chocolate
